Benevolence

Our members at Stroudsville deeply care about the well being of others. We strive to reach out to and serve those who are in need. One of the ways this is accomplished is through our Food Pantry. Our members bring food to stock the pantry for members of the Stroudsville community and surrounding areas that need assistance. Many children from local schools are being helped through this wonderful ministry and we feel blessed to be able to help those in need. We also send care packages to some of our military to supply goods that are not readily available in the areas that they are stationed.

Mission Support

We support missions both in foreign lands but also in the states. We have a deep commitment to the community. We encourage our members to be active and fruitful in their work.  This includes working with young people, teaching others about Christ, formal teaching in our classrooms, or informal teaching in works of service for members or non members alike.

Stroudsville Church of Christ is a big believer in supporting missionaries and spreading God’s Word. Below is a list of the missionaries and ministries we help support.

World Bible School is a correspondence course that we offer free of charge to anyone interested in learning more about God’s will. The majority of our new students are from referrals of those who have completed the course. It is amazing to see how many people have developed a relationship with God through this study.

Finance

At Stroudsville Church of Christ, we have been blessed financially to be able to fund projects at the church and also to help with local benevolence and with local and foreign missionaries. We must always keep in mind that what God has blessed us with is not ours. We are only stewards who should strive to use what God has given us to promote Christ and His message.

“For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away" - Matthew 25:29

Order of Worship & Attendance

At Stroudsville, we worship God by following the example set in the New Testament. To the best of our ability, we worship God in a way which pleases Him. Worship should also build us up, teach us, and encourage us to stay faithful.

In a typical worship service, you will see the following things which God has commanded:

Singing- In the New Testament we see early Christians sing praises to God without the aid of a piano or a group of instruments. The focus of singing is what first comes from our hearts and minds. Simply put, we  are commanded to “sing” to God. (Ephesians 5:19)

Prayer- During worship, one of our men will stand and speak for everyone as he makes requests before God. As we pray, you will notice we close the prayer in “Jesus’ name”. The bible tells us to lift our requests up to God often and with faith. (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)

Preaching- Our preacher does not have a special title or special clothes. He prepares a brief lesson for the congregation from the Bible and encourages us as he opens up the word of God. (2 Timothy 4:1-4). At the end of the lesson, you will be “invited” to respond if you want to become a Christian, request prayer, confess sin, or talk about a spiritual struggle in your life.

Communion or “Lord’s Supper”- Each Sunday we have men who stand around a small table and pray over leaven bread, which represents the body of Christ, and grape juice, which represents His blood. (1 Corinthians 11:23-28). This important part of worship reminds us that Jesus died for the sins of the world. Communion is a time to examine our own life to see if we are faithful. We never want to forget the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

Giving- After the Lord’s Supper, we collect money from members who have set aside funds during the week. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8). These funds help with community outreach, church expenses, and our mission efforts. We do not require our guests to make a donation but you are free to give if you wish.

We hope you enjoy your worship here at Stroudsville. Please come back to see us and consider making us your new church home. PLEASE let us know if you have any questions about our worship or would like to have a bible study.
